Incidental Workouts & Reconnecting with Joy
Lately, I’ve been racking up some serious “incidental exercise.”
Lately, I’ve been racking up some serious “incidental exercise.” Like the half-mile sprint to catch the ferry (sometimes successful, sometimes not), or hopping on a BayWheels bike to save time—only to find the kiosk full and miss the boat anyway. Those surprise detours usually end with a sweaty ride to the nearest BART station. It all adds up, and while it’s not always convenient, I kind of love the scrappy improvisation of it.
What’s really been energizing me even more, though, is reconnecting with people I haven’t seen in a while. Each catch-up with an old friend or colleague feels like plugging into a power source—reminding me how alive I feel in conversation, in laughter, in mutual curiosity about life and work. These relationships are what sustain me, just as much as movement does.
If we haven’t seen each other in a while, I hope we’ll find a time to connect soon. I’d love to hear what you’re up to—and maybe even arrive a little sweaty from the journey.
