Remember What We Know Deep Down
April 5, 2025
Hands Off Gathering in Downtown Oakland, California. Thousands of my neighbors turned out to be together and the energy was amplifed by anger and rage and yet there was a feeling of love and connection in everyone.
Everywhere I look—across industries, systems, and leadership spaces—I see people doing their best inside structures that were not designed for love, connection, or collective thriving.
We’ve inherited ways of working that center productivity over presence, competition over care, and scarcity over enough-ness. And yet… most of us know, deep down, that this isn’t the whole story.
That there is another way.
We know what it feels like to be truly seen.
We know what it means to care, even when it’s inefficient.
We know how good it feels to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we gently, consistently, and powerfully bring these truths back to the center of how we work and lead. Not just in theory—but in real, everyday choices.
What if the most radical thing we could do is remember that we already have enough?
That there is room for everyone.
That we can share power instead of hoarding it.
That connection isn’t a soft skill—it’s the whole point.
I believe in a world where our systems—yes, even our organizations—can be built on values like love, generosity, shared care, and service to one another. Not as an afterthought. As a foundation.
And I believe we can begin creating that world now. In our teams. In our policies. In our calendars. In our conversations. Even in how we use technology.
This is not about being perfect. It’s about being intentional.
So here’s the gentle invitation:
Notice where the old values are running the show—and choose differently.
In that meeting. In that decision. In that email.
You get to be a culture-maker.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably already doing it in your own way.
Let’s keep going.
Let’s build what we know is possible.
Together.
